This is what it looks like… when the church is alive!

Dear New Life Friends,

This is what it looks like… when the church is alive!

Those are some of the lyrics to one of my new favorite worship songs - The Church is Alive by River Valley Worship - but it’s also what I’ve seen this past week!

It began over the past several weeks when we put out the call “CARITAS is going to take all hands on deck!” and you responded! You signed up for over 100 volunteer opportunities and purchased supplies for breakfast, lunch, snacks and more.

Over the past several days, I’ve been at the church in the evenings and there is certainly a flurry of activity. I’ve also been here during the morning and a crew is faithfully wrapping up and cleaning up from the previous evening’s activity. And I’ve been here in the afternoon to see groups arriving to prepare the evening meal and anticipate welcoming our guests “home” for the evening.

This is what it looks like when the church is alive!

Jesus put it this way in Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you have done for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

So, whenever we feed the hungry, invite a stranger in, give someone clothes to wear or something to drink, we become the body of Christ. The church is not a building. The church is not a place. The church is God’s people, representing Jesus here on earth. Bringing a little “up there down here."

This is what it sounds like

This is what it looks like

This is what it feels like

When the church is alive

If, for some reason, you missed being a part of this opportunity, there are always other opportunities we can help you get connected with and of course the BIG SERVE that will be part of our 20th Birthday Celebration, November 10-12. So, mark your calendar now!

What a blessing to see the Spirit of God living through you! How beautiful!

Blessed,

Pastor Mike
