Dear New Life Friends,
Not if, but how…
And not just how, but where…
And not just where, but who…
I know that’s a lot of questions, but they are clarifying questions.
Jesus said he “did not come to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45).”
So, for the follower of Jesus, it’s not really about if we serve. It’s really more about how, where and who we serve.
We just finished hearing in worship this past Sunday from the McDowell County Mission Team, but the challenge was brought home “We are all called to serve. Is your light on? Where are you going to shine your light?”
Each day we are given the chance to serve someone, somewhere, somehow in the name of Jesus in response to how God has served us.
Don’t wait for someone else to organize something - although you should be a part of those serving opportunities as well.
Don’t wait for someone else to identify a cause - although you should notice if it creates a spark within you.
Don’t wait for someone else to create time in your calendar - although you should prioritize competing commitments.
Don’t wait for someone to tell you that you would be good at it - although you should consider your gifts, skills and resources.
It’s not a mater of If, but a matter of how, where and who.
So, put your serve on.
Who knows… in the attempts to improve someone else’s life, you might wind up making your own better!
Blessings in Christ,
Pastor Mike
