Together we make the Mission Team

Dear New Life Friends,

Together we make the Mission Team.

"Yeahbut…” - (it’s not really one word, but people often say it as one so I’ll write it here as one just for the sake of fun).

“Yeahbut…” - someone might say - “...I’m not going on the mission trip? So, I’m not really part of the team."

“Yeah but...” - I would respond - “We are all part of the Mission Team.”

There is a Mission Team of 12 that leaves to serve with the people of McDowell County from July 16-23. Yet, I know there are some people who wanted to go but can’t because of work, health, season of life and several other legitimate reasons.

So, I say “YEAH, you may not be able to go, BUT you are still part of the team."

Yeahbut... we can all pray. We will pray this Sunday during worship for the ones we are sending out. This is not new, but the example of disciples since the beginning of the church (Acts 13:2-3).

Yeahbut… we can all write notes. Paul wrote letters of encouragement to the churches to remain faithful in their obedience to Christ while he was away from them. This makes us a major portion of the New Testament such as his letter to the Galatians, letter to Ephesians, letter to the Philippians and others. Even further, in one of his letters to the Corinthians he even stated that the people themselves were the letter (2 Corinthians 3:2-3).

Yeahbut… we can all contribute school supplies. Most of us have the blessing of having too many pencils and pens in our junk drawer and the ability to put a couple items in our cart when shopping for our own kids (2 Corinthians 8:1-15).

Yeahbut… we are all sent to go in mission. Every Sunday, you are sent out the doors of the church building to be missionaries to your family, your neighbors, your co-workers and any person God places in your path (Matthew 28:19-20 & Acts 1:8).

So, when the team returns and shares about all that God did, it won’t be just through the people that went. It will be a celebration of what God did through all of us who make up the Mission Team - those that went, those that stayed, those that prayed, those that sent resources, those that wrote notes, those that took care of things on the home front.

Together we make the Mission Team.

No Yeahbuts about it.
