LBO…

Dear New Life Friends,

LBO…

It could be related to FOMO and has nothing to do with BOGO, but IDK for sure, so I’ll let you MTD.

Many years ago, my wife Maria and I were wondering why people hadn’t signed up for what we thought was a stellar event, so we decided to evaluate all the variables…

  • Was the event interesting or did it meet a need for people?
  • Had we communicated it clearly, widely and often?
  • Had we done things in the past with excellence so people could expect this to be of the same caliber?
  • What other events were being offered in the area at the same time?
  • Was the time of day and season of year affecting participation?

We felt positive about the answers to those questions, so we began asking people individually if they were planning to attend. People responded that it sounded like a great event and there were no other conflicts at the time, but they couldn't commit to sign on the dotted line  because they wanted to keep all options open in case another opportunity came up.

Maria and I decided that from then on when planning events, we would always keep in mind LBO.

LBO (Last Best Offer) affects our decision making. It could be related to FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and has nothing to do with BOGO (Buy One Get One), but IDK (I Don’t Know) for sure, so I’ll let you MTD (Make The Decision).

Through the years, we discovered that sometimes those who wrestled with LBO came back to us after the event and expressed regret for not attending. They had heard about all the fun people had and wished they had made the decision to come. In fact, they found themselves at the time of the event still waiting for something to happen.

I’m not suggesting we over schedule. In fact, I'm suggesting we be very intentional about prioritizing our time and calendar, especially as fall rolls around. LBO can be subtle, invasive and devastating. So, don’t fall prey to LBO.

If you haven’t already, put these two fun summer opportunities on your calendar:

  • 808 Outdoor Concert - Saturday, August 19 at 6pm
  • Game Show Night - Sunday, August 27 from 6-8pm

These events are going to be awesome. We will be talking about them for a long time to come. You won’t want to miss them, but IDK for sure, so I’ll let you MTD.

I hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am!

Blessings in Christ,

Pastor Mike
